Seems to me that there may be tomfoolery on all sides here. Political circus tricks, in any sport, destroys the natural enjoyment of the sport. Rules must be simple, enforceable, and not purely decided at the whim of biased viewpoints. Rules must be evenly applied to all competitors. Despite the inner circles best efforts, many quietly see bias in rules, and poor treatment of some, and simply walk away to do something else. That has been happening far too much in soaring. Many claim it’s been getting rapidly worse over the past 20 years. I can speak for the last ten. It has been rather eye opening. The brazenness of the bias. This path of poor ethics is toxic. There have been FAR too many political power plays in this tiny sport. It’s incredibly annoying. It’s well beyond control. It’s time for a new direction. It’s time to cut it off. Time for new leaders and new standards of leadership. Hasn’t enough damage been done? And for what value? This is getting to New York Yacht Club Americas Cup Selection Trials in the 1970’s level now…
